Afghan services face rising returns and falling aid
The UN humanitarian coordinator said on 6 November that 6.7 million Afghans had returned since 2020, while humanitarian funding received so far in 2026 stood at$570 million, compared with$2 billion in 2023.
At least 30 civilians were killed in an attack in Beni Territory, North Kivu, overnight on 5 November, according to local sources cited by OCHA. The UN reported destruction of a health centre and suspension of Ebola response operations.
Climate finance falls short in vulnerable displacement settings
UNHCR reported on 6 November that roughly three-quarters of forcibly displaced people, nearly 90 million, live in countries highly exposed to climate hazards. Fragile and conflict-affected countries hosting large refugee populations receive about 10% of global climate finance.
